DESCRIPTION |
The
project purports to produce fabrics from fine textured abaca
fibers for use in garments and curtains making and for other
important industrial purposes. It involves the weaving of
sorted abaca fibers using a technology developed by the
Philippine Textile Research Institute (PTRI), called "pinukpok",
also known in Bicol as "pinukpok" or "pinulpog".
Global
fashion now requires the use of environment-friendly
materials from indigenous and local sources. Demand is high
because of the strong support and promotions of world's top
