PROVISION OF PROGRAM MATERIALS FOR DAY CARE CENTERS

DESCRIPTION

The Provision of Program Materials for Day Care Center was a project implemented by the municipality of Vinzons, Camarines Norte.  It was funded under the RP-Japan Increase of Food Production or the Second Kennedy Round (KR-2) 20th Tranche Program.  It has a total project cost of PhP150,000, of which PhP142,500 is the national government assistance and PhP7,500 represents the LGU counterpart. 

The project was comprised of the procurement and distribution of pre-school manuals, workbooks, skill enhancement apparatuses and audio-visual appliances that helped and enhanced the learning capabilities of pre-school children in  nine day care centers  of the municipality.  Specifically, the project aimed to:  1) establish and promote a responsive day care program in the nine barangays of the municipality; 2) provide a conducive and safe learning facility to the pre-school children; and 3) help the children develop and improve their skills through listening to music, practicing arts and crafts and in participating in creative activities, plays and other social interactions. 


The following items have been purchased and distributed in barangays Asdum, Cabanbanan, Calabagas, Fabrica, Iraya Sur, Canluran, Man-Ogob, San Jose and  Silangan of the municipality:

  • ECCD book re: Working with Young Children and Families (1 pc.)

  • Promac Traveler Mini Karaoke with microphone (1 unit)

  • Building blocks "Lego" (1 set)

  • Magic match (1 set)

  • Toys for children  (1 lot)

  • Aklat Adarna Manual (vol. 1-5)

  • Diwang Pilipino (1 pc)

  • Aklat Adarna Assorted  Titles

  • ABC My Practice Book (30 pcs)

  • Nursery Rhyme Tapes (4 sets)

  • Plastic Cabinet w/o Lock (1 set)

  • Atlas Plastic Tables for Children (6 pcs.)

  • Plastic Chair w/o Armrest (15 pcs.)

The following are some of the policies and strategies that were adopted in the implementation of the project: 

  • All materials and equipment were distributed and turned over to their respective barangay council through the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Officer (MSWDO).

  • Ocular inspections were conducted by the Municipal Monitoring Committee (MMC) with the representatives of the Day Care Parents Committee (DCPC) to ensure that the materials and equipment are safe and secured in the center and being handled by authorized official.

  • Monitoring and evaluation of the project were conducted by the MSWDO and an updated list of day care children were maintained in the barangay through the accredited Day Care Worker (DCW).  Generally, the provision of materials for day care centers in every barangay boosted the morale and performance of DCWs.   

  • LGUs strong commitment to provide  financial assistance and support to the barangays through fund sourcing,  i.e., part of the municipality’s cash reward for its excellent implementation of the CIDSS in the amount of  Php 100,000.00 was appropriated to procure additional program materials for daycare centers in CIDSS areas,  additional amount of Php 260,000.00 was sourced under the Lingap para sa Mahirap Program for the procurement of additional program materials in barangay San Jose and Iraya Sur Day Care Centers.
