KALAHI-CIDSS Project is now in its Phase 1 and
Phase 2 areas of implementation across the country. Since July 2004,
the Project has approved a total of 713 community development
projects for funding. In the Phase 1 areas alone, it has funded a
total of 103 community projects, 40% of which are water related
projects, 26% are road projects, 8% are day care centers, 5% are
school buildings, 3% are multi-purpose buildings, 5% are health
stations and 13% are capability building activities, innovative and
income generating projects.
In July 2004, a total of 610 community projects
were approved in Phase 2 areas 24% of which are water related
projects, 31% are road projects, 7% are day care centers, 7% are
school buildings, 1% are multi-purpose buildings, 12% are health
stations and the remaining 18% comprise the capability building
activities, innovative and income generating projects.
In general, the top two community projects
identified in the KALAHI-CIDSS were those related to the provision
of or access to potable water, and construction or rehabilitation of
farm-to-market roads. The water related projects cover 26% of the
total project identified while those road projects cover the 31%.
Other projects include day care centers (7%), school buildings (7%),
multi-purpose buildings (1%), and health stations (11%).
Furthermore, the Project has also funded capability building
activities, innovative and income generating projects such as
motorized pumpboat, dumptruck, cornmill, marketing center,
electrification, foot/suspension bridges, meat processing facility,
and conduct of feasibility study for an irrigation system all of
which form the remaining 17% of the total identified community
projects.
Moreover, the Project releases the funds direct
to the communities in three tranches, based on the submission of
required documents. In the first tranche, 50% of the total project
cost is released to the community bank account, 40% in the second
tranche and 10% third tranche.
