A
total of P1.5 Billion worth of investments in finance,
insurance, real estate and business services, and wholesale and
retail trade were generated from business name registration and
DTI-initiated investment fora. New investments employed a total
of 13,288 persons.
Camarines Sur led in investment generation with 58 percent share
of the regional total. Five new agribusiness, wholesale and
retail trade, and tourism service enterprises started operating
in Camarines Norte.
There was a total of P44.6 million new investments in the form
of paid up capital of registered stock and non-stock
corporations, and partnership.
The business sector pushed for the rehabilitation of the PNR
during the South Luzon area business conference (SOLABC).
An eco-friendly regional fashion designers competition dubbed as
“Expo Fantasies in Fashion was held in Naga City. This joint
project of Naga and DTI Cam Sur provincial office featured
creations made out of water lily fabrics and other local raw
materials. These are water lilies harvested from the Naga River.
This event is an opportunity to spur new business opportunity
out of the need to rid the Naga River of excessive growth
of water lilies which hamper the habitat of fish and aquatic
resources in the river.
Investment and tourism promotion activities include: the Pilinut
Business Mission in the USA by DTI, other selling missions and
trade fairs that showcased Bicol products; the 10th Bicol
Tourism, Trade and Investment Mission to the U.S.A. which
highlighted the Balik Bicol 2012 and the presentation of Bicol
products to the Filipino communities in Florida and Los Ageles,
USA; the 2nd Philippine Culinary Tourism Expo (Pcte) 2011 at SM
Megamall, Mandaluyong City that promoted Philippine culinary
travel; and the 22nd Philippine Travel Mart which is the biggest
travel tourism Tour Operators Association (PHILTOA).
