The yearly celebration of the Peņafrancia Festival in Naga City
and the Ibalong Festival in Legazpi City, and international and
national adventure and sports tourism events drew more domestic
and foreign tourists to the region. The sports events were: the
1st Run Green – Run Clean in Legazpi City; Bulusan Eco-Trail
Running Cup 2011 in Bulusan, Sorsogon; the Cobra Ironman 70.3:
Triathlon and the Cam. Sur Water Summit Marathon in Camarines
Sur.
Reliving ancient Bicol. The Ibalong Festival street
presentation in Legazpi City commemorates Bicol’s cultural
heritage.
Aircrafts which served the
region: Philippine Airlines (PAL), Air Philippines, Cebu Pacific
and Zest Air. There
was a decrease in the
number of passengers and amount of cargoes
compared to the previous quarter despite the Peņafrancia
festival in September. Third quarter is usually the lean season
for the airline industry.
RORO trips in Pioduran resumed in September.
Pioduran was isolated because of Typhoon Juaning which hit the
region in July.
