DTI initiated events such as business matching and export sales
monitoring activities generated export sales of $6.67 million an
increase of almost 20 percent from the preceding quarter.
Catanduanes, Camarines Norte and Sorsogon were the major
contributors to the increase in export sales. Albay and
Camarines Sur which had always topped in export generation
recorded a decline in export sales.
The value of exports recorded by the ports of Jose Panganiban,
Legazpi and Rapu-rapu in July and August amounted to $27.51
million, of which 66 percent was exported to Switzerland.
Products with the highest export sales were gold
bullion/strips/foils/bars which amounted to $18.250 Million.
Next were crude oil, and zinc ores and concentrates which were
exported to USA and Korea, respectively.
Total domestic sales of P258.20 million were generated from
DTI-sponsored trainings, product development and market matching
for small and medium enterprises. There was an increase by 31
percent over the recent quarter with Masbate registering the
highest increment.
Masbate, which conducted an SME Week in July, recorded the
highest domestic sales. Activities in Camarines Sur which
contributed to increase in domestic sales were the celebration
of Peņafrancia Festival, Bicol Business Week, South Luzon Area
Business Conference, Bishop Francisco Gainza Trade Fair and
Negosyo Patrol. DTI Sorsogon focused its assistance on the
promotion of one town one project (OTOP) under a special project
funded by Cong. Deogracia B. Ramos of the 2nd
District of Sorsogon. The activities included product
development, skills trainings and provision of common service
facilities.
