   PEACE SITUATION

  • The Philippine Army (PA) engineering brigade turned over P9 million worth of Kalayaan Barangay Program (KBP) projects to the local government of Guinobatan, Albay. At a simple turnover rites at the town hall, Tomasito Monzon, Presidential Assistant for Bicol Affairs (OPAP) with Lt. Gen Nestor Ochoa, Armed Forces of the Philippines commanding officer of the National Development Support Command (AFP-NDSC) turned over to Guinobatan Mayor Juan Garcia 15 KBP projects consisting of seven school buildings,  three water systems, and five health centers.

The newly-completed KBP projects are part of the P350-million funded projects undertaken in Bicol since 2008 through the Office of the Presidential Advisers on Peace process (OPAPP) and the AFP. The KBP aims to transform insurgency infested villages to peaceful and developed communities.
