Major

in the Bicol
region shall
be
revitalized
to improve
outputs,
generate
higher
employment,
and provide
higher
family
incomes to
improve the
quality of
life of the
Bicolanos.
The economic
sector shall
give
priority to
the pili,
abaca,
coconut,
fishery,
wood,
mining,
services,
and tourism
industries.
Tourism
shall
continue to
be a major
economic
activity.
More tourism
receipts
will be
realized by
encouraging
longer stay
of tourists
in medical
and
educational
centers.
However,
agriculture,
fishery,
forestry,
mineral, and
other
natural
resources
shall be
utilized in
a
responsible
manner.
Organic
farming
shall be
adopted.
Plantation
farming
shall be
promoted
especially
in pili and
abaca.
Backward and
forward
linkages
shall be
established
between
markets,
distribution
hubs,
processing
centers, and
farms.
Mangroves
and coral
reefs shall
be protected
to ensure
sustainable
supply of
fish. The
value of a
green
production
environment
shall be
advocated.
