Ensuring Economic Growth

Major economic activities in the Bicol region shall be revitalized to improve outputs, generate higher employment, and provide higher family incomes to improve the quality of life of the Bicolanos. The economic sector shall give priority to the pili, abaca, coconut, fishery, wood, mining, services, and tourism industries. Tourism shall continue to be a major economic activity. More tourism receipts will be realized by encouraging longer stay of tourists in medical and educational centers.

However, agriculture, fishery, forestry, mineral, and other natural resources shall be utilized in a responsible manner. Organic farming shall be adopted. Plantation farming shall be promoted especially in pili and abaca. Backward and forward linkages shall be established between markets, distribution hubs, processing centers, and farms. Mangroves and coral reefs shall be protected to ensure sustainable supply of fish. The value of a green production environment shall be advocated.
