Geography and Demography
Location

The municipality of Baao is within the 4th Congressional District of the Province of Camarines Sur. It is geographically located at coordinates 123 30' longitude and 13 30' latitude.

This town is bounded on the North by the municipalities of Pili and Ocampo, on the South by the municipality of Nabua, on the East by the city of Iriga and on the Northwest by the town of Bula, also of the Province of Camarines Sur

Baao is approximately 480 kms. South of Metro Manila, 30 kms. East of Naga City, a close neighbor of iriga City about 7.5 kms away, and 70 kms. North of Legazpi City, the regional center of the Bicol provinces.

Accessible by land transportation, it is along the main route of the Maharlika Highways and the Philippine National Railways

The average travel time from Manila is 8-9 hours.

Topography

Baao consists of a mixed topographic relief.The Northern portion, which is approximately 60 percent of the town's total land area, or 8,582.4 hectares are hilly and mountainous. The central and western areas have gently sloping reliefs, which covers 20 percent of the municipality's total land area of 143.04 sq. has., or 14,304 hectares and the remaining 20 percent, or about 2,680.8 hectares, have nearly level to level terrain, where the residential, commercial, institutional establishment can be found, as well as the lowland ricefields, fishponds and lake are located.

Climate

This municipality falls under the third type of climate with no pronounced seasons. Relatively wet from the month of May and dry the rest of the year. Maximum rain periods are from July to October, while dry seasons last from January to March. This area is partly sheltered from the Northwest monsoon and trade winds by Mt. Isarog, but open to the Southwest monsoon or at least too frequent storms. General wind direction is from East to West within the months of December to February. South to West from March to August, and shifting Northwest to East during the months of September, October and November.
