Employment rate in 1995 was computed at 93.4, which is not so dismal,
but the underemployment rate was quite high at 35.2%.
The literacy and
educational status of the population are high: literacy rate are 98%
for Camarines Norte, 96% for Camarines Sur and 95% for Albay.
Attendance in elementary schools is computed at 83%-93% of elementary
school age population. The average educational attainment of adults is
2nd year high school.
Its major agricultural base are food crops (rice/corn, rootcrops,
fruits and vegetables), commercial/industrial crops (coconut, abaca),
livestock and fishery products. The GRDP structure of Bicol Region in
2001 consisted of 33% agriculture, 22% industry and 45% services.
