Six
bridge projects, five in Legazpi City and one in Bato, Camarines Sur,
were endorsed for funding under any appropriate Bridge Program of
the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) by the RDC.
According to NEDA OIC-ARD Luis Banua, concurrently RDC Secretary,
the five Legazpi bridges are estimated to cost a total of P100
million and are among the priority projects in the City’s
Medium-Term Public Investment Program for 2009-2011. These include
the Rawis-Tamaoyan Bridge, Homapon-Mariawa Bridge, Guevarra
Subdivision Bridge, Taysan-Malangka Bridge, and Arimbay-Bagong Abre
Bridge. The said bridges will improve access to centers of basic
social services and market facilities benefiting especially farmers
in food producing and poverty areas of the city.
Banua
said that the proposed Payak-Pagatpatan Bridge of the municipal
government of Bato, Camarines Sur will replace the existing severely
damaged spillway in Pambuan River. The 70 linear meter project will
cost P50 million. Its completion will boost agricultural
productivity and greatly benefit upland farmers
