In
September 2000, member states of the United Nations (UN) gathered at
the Millennium Summit to affirm commitments towards reducing poverty
and the worst forms of human deprivation. The Summit adopted the UN
Millennium Declaration which embodies 8 goals that are expected to
be achieved by 2015.
In the Philippines, the National Statistical Coordination Board (NSCB)
is tasked to compile related indicators and their corresponding data
series as basis for measuring and tracking the progress towards the
attainment of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). In the Bicol
Region, the MDG Watch may be accessed online at

The following data, compiled as of December 2006, shows how the
Bicol Region is faring with regard to the MDG goals and targets.
